Indian Wedding Fashion Trend: Phulkari Embroidery

The fashion industry is often known for the here today gone tomorrow trends, only to welcome the same trends back after some years have passed. One such trend that I am very excited to see make a comeback is the art of Phulkari. Phulkari, which literally translates to floral work, is an ancient embroidery technique that originated in Punjab. Traditionally this type of embroidery was used during a girl's wedding as part of her trousseau, but recently designers such as Manisha Malhotra and Niki Mahajan have started to adopt it for use on their upcoming bridal wear.
