Indian Wedding Fashion by Ashdeen Lilaowala, Gaurang Shah, Farah Firdos & Payal Singhal LFW S/S 13
The fourth day of Lakmé Fashion Week S/S 13 was full of variety, fabulous designers and some show-stopping celebrity appearances. There was so much gorgeous evening wear among a few shows and we selected the most fantastic for a Sangeet or for the wedding reception.
Farah Firdos' collection, "An Eye Through Bangles," was inspired by, what else, bangles! The beautiful lehngas, anarkalis and sarees were adorned in vibrant and metallic thread and some were subtly decorated with crystals, brocade and other embellishments giving a festive vibe to each outfit. For a bride who wants loads of color and a festive outfit, these would look astonishing without having a tacky overload of color. Vidya Malvade made a stunning appearance in an amazingly detailed fuchsia and blue lengha; this is a winner for brides.
s "Taj" collection added a modern touch to traditional silhouettes and color. Pastel colors were splashed with bright yellow and black. The beauty of these outfits is the ability to customize and mix and match. Aditi Rao Hydari was the show-stopper with a beautiful red lengha embroidered in ivory and gold.
Gaurang Shah's collection was bright, bold and anything but boring. Cocoa and tan tones were significantly livened up with bright pink and red touches including embroidered flowers. This one is perfect for the bride who prefers quirky and feminine fashion and dares to be different. Chitrangada Singh makes an appearance with a stunning bronze and black saree with large printed florals.
Ashdeen Lilaowala's collection was heavily influenced by Parsi Gara. Common graphics were chrysanthemums, flying cranes, butterflies in red, black and white. Here is our pick that would look gorgeous for an elegant and more casual Sangeet or for a low key reception. It's beautiful it its simplicity.
