Payal Singhal Spring/Summer 2012 Trunk Show

While assuming the new Creative Director role at IndianWeddingSite.com, I've had the opportunity to attend various fashion events targeted to the Indian bridal community. I had the pleasure of attending Payal Singhal’s Spring/Summer 2012 Bridal Trunk show and I must say, I was impressed by the beautiful clothes.

Payal's inspiration for this collection came from various sources. She explained that the shapes are heavily influenced by Afghanistan’s and Pakistan’s culture for this collection. While there were many outfits with large stones, it seemed that the trend towards smaller, more delicate sparkle and tiny pearl beads was in effect.

The fabrics were diaphanous silks and brocades layered upon each other or in tiers. She also said there is a nod to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” hence the lovely light layers of silk with an ethereal quality.  There were some traditional color palettes for the brides who prefer them, but Payal says that her collections are mostly on trend with color.  Indeed, there were beautiful soft pastels such as blush, pale blue-mint, yellow and nude.  The beauty of it all is that it’s very customizable.  The clothes are very versatile giving her clients a variety of options and not to mention a better value.  I can’t wait to see what she has in store for her Fall collection.

Below are some trends I captured to share with you!
