Lakme Fashion Week Winter 2014 - Arpita Mehta and Ridhi Mehra

Designer Arpita Mehta's “Starlight Collection” was inspired by her grandmother’s love for vintage cocktail dresses and Indian opulence. The fabrics she chose to create the collection consisted of tabi silk, nets, raw silk and flat chiffons. A special embroidery called “button flower,” which has 3D threadwork flowers appliquéd over mirror flowers, were used as embellishments for the ensemble. Foil and other mirrored work was used for her creations as well.

Ileana D'cruz closed the show in a pink high-waisted lehenga choli and dupatta, with foil and mirrorwork.

Designer Ridhi Mehra presented her new collection ‘Mystical Nuit’ which was inspired by the luminescence of the night sky. She crafted the outfits in silk, georgette, chiffon and net. Resham, zardozi and beadwork added a beautiful touch to each piece in the ensemble.

Model turned actor Lisa Haydon wore a white and midnight blue gown with a bodice showcasing asymmetrical sleeves and a floral design.
