Delhi Couture Week 2013 - Manish Arora / Gaurav Gupta

We continue coverage with day 4 and 5 of Delhi Couture Week 2013 with 2 more shows very different from one another.

Manish Arora presented his collection on the 4th day of DCW. Bright colored lenghas and anarkalis were the highlights of the show. Manish wanted to present Indian kitsch and took inspiration from his own home. Each model wore a mask that was the designer's version of Durga. Traditional Indian bridal silhouettes meet neon color, digital prints and of course no bride could be without glittering gold. A bride who loves traditional silhouettes but flirts with daring color would certainly gravitate towards this non-conventional collection.

Moving on to day 5 with Gaurav Gupta's show where he presented his collection called "Lightfall". Filled with glittering gold and draped light layered fabrics such as lace and tulle, this collection lived up to its namesake. Beautiful silhouettes of lenghas and gowns combined with saris seemed to meld so seamlessly. Gold lame seemed to flow into layers of silk in some gowns. Red and gold traditional lenghas were light and free of heavy crystal embellishments. Lace gowns and sarees in ecru, gold, ivory, blue and black were the highlight of the show. Brides looking for a wedding trosseau that has loads of sparkle but is free from heavy weight embellishment and crystals will be thrilled with this collection.
