Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 Neeta Lulla
Neeta Lulla presented a stunning collection called "Radha" inspired by her beauty and the symbol of true love. Clusters of white temple bells hung from the ceiling while imposing tall pillars on one side of the stage created the perfect ambience. As the lights dimmed and the stage lit up, silhouettes and yards of fabric gave way to reveal Bollywood’s only “Dream Girl” Hema Malini. The star danced with unmatched grace with Raul D’Souza as ‘Krishna” to create the right mood for the show.
A collection of intense beauty and style which blended East and West, Neeta combined the silhouettes of gowns for the ghagras to produce a wonderful fusion story. Intricate detail, which was primarily zardozi, quilting, appliqué and embroidery adorned rich and opulent fabrics such as brocades, organza, tulle and silks. The color combos and shades remained traditional and vibrant in trios of raani pink, purple and orange as well as saffron, emerald and fuchsia.
The collection of lehengas, cholis and dupattas were a feast for the senses and the eyes. To complement the splendorous creations, were the fabulous bridal ornaments by Forever Jewellery. Dazzling kundan necklaces, chandelier earrings, maang tikkas, Minakari bangles - the list was an endless collection of the best wedding jewellery.
Innovative and creative lehengas and ghagras were exquisite; brocade lehengas with centre tiered pleats, multicoloured embroidery on hemlines, and ghagras with vertical fluting panels were dazzling. Neeta's creativity knows no bounds as shown by the innovative dhoti inspired lehenga, pleated and petalled skirt, and a bias cut mermaid silhouette. Cholis were kept tiny and glittering, and the dupattas, some with giant gold flower appliqués, were opulent in their grandeur.
