Lakme India Fashion Week Winter 2011 - Nishka Lulla

We're back with another day of fashion!

If the name Nishka Lulla sounds familiar, it's because you know her fashion designer mother, Neeta Lulla. (We'll have her collection coming up later this week). Nishka is stepping into her own with a collection for young women who aren't afraid to make a statement. While her collection was not completely bridal, I can definitely see a bride wearing one of these lehngas to her Sangeet, and I love the dresses for honeymoon wear!

"By tastefully merging Indian motifs on fabrics like raw silk, silk satin, georgette, cotton and crepe along with western and ethnic cuts this young designer makes her pieces stand out. Block prints on dresses, added a different yet unique appeal while layers in net spelt ‘Flirty, Fun and Feminine’ and low cut blouses, added a subtle hint of oomph.

Vibrant fuchsia ponchos, heavily embroidered minis, ornate lehengas with dazzling cholis and for the ethnic dresser beautiful embroidered saris – the collection had a wide repertoire to suit every whim of a woman’s fashion fantasies. The silhouettes were lean and figure hugging but at times moved into more fluid bias cuts. Embellishments were traditional but with that interesting contemporary touch to match the beauty of the fusion designs.

Pop colours such as red, pink, orange, leaf green seem to celebrate the youthfulness in her collection. While royal colours such as blue, black and white added a hit of sophistication when embellished with sequins and stones."
