Engagement parties are great because you get to plan a big party, but without the stress of it being your reception. There's more leeway to introduce fun, playful elements that you might shy away from on your wedding day. This party is usually done on a smaller scale so it's more likely that your guests will be ones you really care about (not that you don't care about every single one of the 500+ guests invited to your wedding, of course!)
