There are a variety of ways to handle different religious backgrounds on your wedding day. Laura and Raj decided to combine ceremonies with a Unitarian minister and a Hindu priest co-officiating.
From the bride:
“When we finally tied the knot, we wanted to have a wedding that really reflected both who we are as individuals, and what we are as a couple. This was challenging, because we come from very different backgrounds – I grew up in a Christian family on a small-town farm, and Raj grew up in a Hindu family whose parents were first generation. After the minister did the initial welcomes, we completed a traditional Hindu ceremony in a mandap, which included traditions like saptapadi and jai mala. Afterward, we exchanged rings and traditional Western vows, allowing us to cement our marriage in the traditions of each of our cultures.”Enjoy these perfectly candid photos from
