I have an absolutely
adorable couple to introduce you to today! Priya and Pankaj come from completely different backgrounds - she's Christian, he's Hindu; she was born in Norway, he was born in New York. What united them and brought their wedding plans together? Their common Punjabi background, which they emphasized throughout their week-long wedding events as a way to bring their families and friends together.
What better way to kick off a Punjabi wedding than with an authentic Punjabi village themed Sangeet? We've seen this done many times, but I have to say I am really loving the thought put into this one! I'll let the bride share the details:
"We had a manji with phulkari on the stage and a very colorful backdrop. Our centerpieces were a variety of Punjabi food items (desi ghee, gud, parlee biscuits, kurkuree snacks, achar, etc.) and beverages (Thumbs Up and Limca) decorated on a silver plate and sprinkled with colorful flowers petals. Each table had a tent card with a Punjabi village/city name that was significant to either Pankaj’s or my family. Our guests enjoyed munching on the goodies throughout the night, in addition to a full Punjabi buffet. We stacked the bar with Thumbs Up and Limca, and our guests loved drinking the local Indian soda plain or making a cocktail out if it.We had a dhol wala present who did Punjabi boliyaan for us all through the night, our guests and family loved it."This décor will take your breath away!
