Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 Bhairavi Jaikishan

Bhairavi Jaikishan presented her collection “A Wonderful World” and it was indeed quite wonderful filled with intricate patterns, colors and silhouettes.
Keeping the focus on cocktail, evening and bridal wear, Bhairavi showed ornate saris and lenghas along with her signature lengha-sari. Beautiful jewel tones in mustard, emerald, midnight blue, aubergine, shocking pink, red and burgundy seemed to glimmer down the runway.

The classic silhouettes were embellished with necklines so ornate that almost resembled jeweled necklaces. The only fabric Bhairavi used in this collection was net which transformed the fragile fabrics into ethereal and beautiful garments floating down the red carpeted runway.  Embellishment motifs in roses, flowers, pencil lines of sequins, or diamond shapes in zari, anchored down the seemingly floating fabric.
The final red selection had gold lace appliqué snaking down the sari for some of the entries while ornate gold serpentine vines decorated the others. The final two lehengas, cholis and dupattas were exquisite in their embellishments and a great tribute to the design sensibilities of Bhairavi and the skill of her
craftsmen.  We would all love to be part of Bhairavi Jaikishan's "Wonderful Word".
