Indian Wedding Fashion from WIFW 2013 by Tarun Tahiliani & Samant Chauhan

The second day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week was a big surprise.  Samant Chauhan presented a subdued and elegant collection of anarkalis and gowns all in ivory and gold while Tarun Tahiliani took an unexpected twist and stayed with dark autumn colors.

Samant Chauhan's collection would certainly be right on target for a bride who wants a fusion, low key and modern affair.  Most of the anarkalis and gowns were minimally embellished in gold against ivory silk. This of course, would also be a great look for bridesmaids or any bride who wants a modern playful look.

Tarun Tahiliani really surprised me with this collection. Normally when we think of Tahiliani's creations they are full of rich fabrics and dramatic embellishments; this collection was much more subdued.  Out of all the colors there were few that were bridal friendly as most consisted of black and dark brown umber heavy velvet fabric.  The orange and gold embroidered sari and the orange and gold lengha are my favorite selections for a bride who is having an autumn wedding.  Can you image these beautiful warm and rich colors against an autumn Central Park backdrop?
