Meeta, from California, and Banjot, from Connecticut, were married on October 26, 2003. The wedding took place in California followed by a reception in New York.
Honeymoon Highlights:
After all of the wedding festivities were wrapped up, the couple took off for a week in St. John’s. They later spent 3 weeks in Australia and Bora Bora.
Meeta and Banjot chose St. John’s because “it was a secluded spot in the Caribbean with outdoor activities, shopping, snorkeling and nice restaurants.” They stayed at the Westin in St. John’s which they found to be gorgeous.
Later the couple flew to Australia. In Port Douglas they stayed at the Thala Beach Lodge which they thought was awesome. They also spent time at the Sofitel Reef Casino in Cairns, Sails in the Desert in Ayers Rock and the Sydney Harbour Marriott in Sydney. Meeta and Banjot chose Sydney because “it had a great combination of metro city, relaxing beaches and outdoor activities.” They spent much of their time snorkeling and also hiking and visiting museums.
Following their adventures in Australia, Meeta and Banjot set out for some relaxation in Bora Bora. They would definitely recommend staying at the Pearl Beach Resort, especially in an overwater bungalow. The couple felt that spending their time snorkeling, shark feeding and relaxing on the beaches in Bora Bora would be an ideal way to end their honeymoon.
The Best Part:
Banjot felt that the best locations they visited during their multi-country honeymoon were St. John, Bora Bora and Port Douglas. He says, “It was beautiful to go snorkeling and we did some deep water exhibitions.”
Biggest Regret:
The couples’ biggest regret was that they moved around too much during the beginning of their honeymoon. “We spent only 3 nights at Thala Beach Lodge (wish that could have been longer), 1 night at Cairns, 2 nights in Ayers Rock, 5 nights in Sydney and 5 nights in Bora Bora. We were tired when we got to Sydney.”
Must Do Activities:
"Snorkeling and Shark feeding. Those were very memorable."
Must Pack Items:
"Chappals, sun-tan lotion and sunglasses."
Best Souvenier(s):
Banjot lucked out when he found a chess set made from fossilized coral.
What to Avoid:
The couple suggests avoiding the island of Tahiti, particularly the city of Papeete where the international airport is located. “It was not worth seeing unless you like small island cities.” They suggest skipping the busy island and going straight to relax in Bora Bora.
