We have a charming Punjabi wedding from Canada to share with you, photographed by Twinkle Reyes Photography.
From the couple: “The week of the wedding was filled with a number of traditional ceremonies at both houses with many family members arriving from abroad. The Thursday before the wedding was Ravinder’s mayan ceremony along with the Mendhi night. Friday night was another mayan for Ravinder followed by the chura ceremony. Harman had a mayan ceremony the Friday night before the wedding as well.”
From the bride: “The wedding was attended by 500 guests from different parts of the world. We got married at Gurdwara Singh Sabha. I decided to wear the traditional red color however instead of choosing a traditional lengha, i decided to go with a pajami suit. Harman wore a white and gold sherwani. We decided to have a large bridal party who all wore white and gold of close friends and family. The ceremony was very traditional.”
We are loving these bridesmaids suits! Each bridesmaid gets to express her personality through her own salwar kameez style, while sticking to the same white and gold color scheme. Perfect way to have your ladies stand out without having them be too matchy matchy. And the white makes Ravinder’s red suit POP!
When it comes to Indian wedding receptions, brides typically choose two colors for their color palette. Our bride chose the stunning combination of emerald green and royal blue. And instead of matching one another by wearing the same color, the bride and groom’s attire also represented the color scheme of the reception. Loving the results!
From the bride: “Harman decided to make his grand entrance by ‘breaking it down on the dance floor’ which is his typical personality. We wanted to emphasize that people were there to have fun by providing a comfortable atmosphere. We chose The Delta Hotel in Winnipeg as our reception venue because we felt it fit our needs the best and they were able to accommodate for the number of people we had. The evening was full of dancing!”
