Slimming Fashion Tips for Summer
This article is presented by Shehnaai Couture.

It’s time to get ready for Summer! If there is any time in the year to want to look slim, summer is it. We all obviously do what we can with the workouts at the gym, the Weight Watchers and everything else. However, we never give enough credit to choosing the right clothes to create a slimming look. So I thought some advice with respect to using your clothes to make you look slimmer would be a good idea this month.

The Right Colors
Everyone knows that darker colors make you look slimmer, but in the summer, dark colors are not what you want to wear. The ideal choice is to wear one color from head to toe for the slimming look. However, when you want to contrast, wear the darker of the two colors on the part of your body you are more conscious about.

The Asymmetrical Look
There is nothing like the asymmetrical look to make you look slimmer. This means a skirt cut with a slant at the bottom or a layered, angled top. Non-divisional clothes are always a good idea.

Tan Skin
The South Asian culture encourages fair skin but the healthiest and slimmest look is the perfect tan. Be it natural or out of a bottle, a nice tan creates the optical illusion of a healthy look. So no matter what they say, invest in a self-tan bottle and compare the difference in your appearance.

The Right Pants
Summer brings with it shorts and shorter pants. However, if you have a heavier lower body, you should still stick to the longer pants for a slimmer look.

Vertical Stripes
We all know this one…avoid horizontals! When picking your prints, go with anything vertical for a taller and slimmer look.

High Heels
They are the bane of a woman’s existence but they are so essential! You can still do the fancy sandals, but with a slim heel. The posture created with the right heels makes all the difference.

Wider Neckline
This is an easy one with the weather. A wider neckline makes your upper body look slimmer. If you have a heavier chest, this should be your mantra in dressing.

Right Undergarments
We never give enough attention to our undergarments. Even the most gorgeous top or pants need the right, well-fitted undergarments to look right.

Good Posture
Stand up straight! Stomach in, chest out, shoulders straight. Hold your head up high and show good posture. Something so simple will make a huge difference to your appearance.

The Right Fit
If your jeans are an inch too long or your shirt is half an inch too tight … fix it! The right fit is the most important part of looking great. Just say no to those shorts from last summer if they don’t fit well. You don’t have to go out and buy new ones; just have your old ones refitted by your local seamstress. You won’t believe the difference it will make.
