About Manisha
Manisha was born in Queens, New York and spent her formative years in Ann Arbor, Pittsburgh and Augusta, where she graduated from high school. She attended Georgia Tech where she completed her Chemical Engineering degree and was a Presidential Scholar. After working for Proctor and Gamble, she returned to Augusta to obtain her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. While at Baylor, Manisha was selected to be a chief resident and met Maulik . . . The rest is history in the making . . .

About Maulik
Maulik entered this world in Patan, Gujarat, India (he's a FOB!) but moved to Seattle at the age of three. Maulik spent the majority of his childhood in Poquoson where he graduated valedictorian of Poquoson High School. He attended the University of Virginia where he was an Echols Scholar and obtained a degree in biochemisty and economics. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Maulik completed his residency training in Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. While at Baylor, Maulik was also selected to be a chief resident and wooed Manisha. The rest is history in the making . . .

How we met
We met on July 1, 2002 -- It was the first day of our residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. We were sitting in morning report at Ben Taub Hospital, and Maulik leaned over and said "I like your shoes." That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. . . After supporting each other through the trials and tribulations of residency, life and other relationships, we FINALLY started dating!!! Since we knew almost EVERYTHING about each other when we started dating, it was a whirlwind romance, which six months later led to an engagement :)

Proposal
Maulik really outdid himself! So, we were at the Houston Airport. . . where were we going? Atlanta? New York? No. . . Seattle!!! That was just the beginning of the surprise filled weekend. We were on the plane and Maulik says "I'm not gonna lie, I was planning to propose to you this weekend, but I was not able to get the ring in time." And I fell for it . . . We enjoyed all day Friday and Saturday exploring beautiful Seattle. Saturday evening, Maulik, ever so nonchalantly, asked me if I wanted to see the sunset. He said we didn't have to go, it was just an idea. So, we got into a cab and went to Kerry Park. A point in the city where the view was spectacular, the air was crisp, and the mood was just PERFECT!!! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After entering a state of shock (which seemed like forever) I said YES!!!

How we celebrated
Later that evening we went out to Dinner at 'Il Bistro' where we were greeted and escorted to our private table that was adorned with rose petals and a bouquet of a dozen red roses. I looked up and the server was pouring sparkiling apple cider into our champagne glasses! (I don't like champagne) The surprises kept on coming! At the W Hotel, I was greeted with even more red roses, chocolate covered strawberries, and chocolate covered espresso beans! The evening was more amazing than anything I could have ever imagined!
